Sarah Benedict House Rental Policy
The Sarah Benedict House is an historic home which headquarters
the Cleveland Restoration Society. It is available to individuals
and groups without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national
origin, handicap, ancestry, or age. It is the policy of the
Cleveland Restoration Society to strictly comply with all and regulations
prohibiting unlawful discrimination.

Booking
Scheduling is done on a
space-available basis, and may be reserved up to one year in advance.
Rentals will be confirmed upon receipt of a 50% security deposit
and a signed contract. All fees must be paid in full on or before
the day of the event.
Membership Requirement
In addition to rental fees, renters must also sign up for membership
with CRS. Please select from one of the following categories:

Security
Renter will be responsible for retaining the services of a professional
security company for the duration of an evening event that exceeds
the four-hour minimum or where fifty or more guests will be attending.
Liability
The Sarah Benedict House contains valuable historic artifacts that
are irreplaceable. The Renter agrees to use the premises and
facilities in a careful, safe and appropriate manner, and to indemnify
the Cleveland Restoration Society from any and all claims for malady
or injury to persons, or damage to property arising out of such company. Cleveland
Restoration Society is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Renter is liable for, but no limited to, all damages, expenses,
and losses, including theft, property loss, and long-distance telephone
charges caused or incurred by any person attending, participating,
or providing goods or services in connection with the Renter's
use of the premises.
Renter is responsible for having any damages to the property or
its contents professionally cleaned, restored, or replaced in kind
when the Board of Trustees deems conditions unusual or excessive. Such
responsibility includes the yard, parking lot, and landscape features,
and is not limited to the amount of the security deposit.
Failure of caterers, patrons, or guests to vacate the premises as
specified will result in automatic "overtime" billing
to the Renter. Overtime charges are assessed at he hourly rate
applicable to the room used by the Renter and caterer, and will be
asses by the hour or portion thereof.
Furniture/Equipment
Rental fees include use of any furniture and/or equipment delineated
in the rental contract. Moving furniture and/or equipment that
is the property of Cleveland Restoration Society is strictly prohibited. Renters
are responsible for obtaining any additional furniture needed. Cleveland
Restoration Society staff will do all of the set up and take down
for your event as arranged at the time of booking.
Materials may not be attached to walls, fixtures, or furnishings. Artwork
may not be removed. Fireplaces are strictly decorative, and
not operable.
All delivery and pick up arrangements for rental equipment must
be scheduled through Felicia Hall, Director of Administration, during
regular business hours.
Catering
Catering set up is to be done at the start of your paid time. As
the kitchen contains only residential-grade appliances that are not
meant for heavy-duty cooking, our facilities may only be used for
light preparation before the event.
Alcohol
State law provides that no person under twenty-one years of age
be permitted to handle or consume intoxicating beverages, whether
on private or public property. Cleveland Restoration Society
abides by this law, and expects all renters, guests, and staff that
enter the premises to do the same.
Miscellaneous
Music is permitted at the Sarah Benedict House, and single musicians
or small ensembles are encouraged. Amplified or electrified
music is not permitted in the courtyard or patio areas. Regardless
of location, all must cease by 11 p.m.
All candles must be dripless and placed in a votive holder. Open
candles are not permitted.
No popcorn, rice, glitter, or greens with any type of berry are
permitted in the Sarah Benedict House or on its grounds. All
decorations must be removed at the end of the functions, unless arrangements
have been made in advance.
Smoking is NOT permitted inside the Sarah Benedict House. Smoking
is permitted in the courtyard and patio areas. Ashtrays must
be provided by the Renter. Ashtrays must be removed from the
premises at the end of the event.

Required:
- Rental fee includes use of Cleveland Restoration Society's
tables and chairs.
