Driving Map

Hale Farm & Village's charm is its pastoral setting.

Hale Farm & Village takes you back 100 years to pioneer life in northeast Ohio, formerly called the Western Reserve. In 1810, Jonathan Hale, a farmer from Glastonbury, Connecticut, arrived in the Western Reserve with a deed for 500 acres of land. After establishing his homestead, Hale began constructing a sparkling three-story red brick house in 1825, using materials from his property. At the time of completion, this was one of only two brick homes in the Cuyahoga Valley. Three generations of the family lived in this house and farmed the property.

Now operated by the Western Reserve Historical Society, Hale Farm and Village offers civil war re-enactments and year-round activities recreating that period and its crafts. Skilled artisans demonstrate blacksmithing, spinning, weaving, broom making, candle making and basket weaving right before your eyes. Farm animals are in residence with a "stable" of horses, pigs, cows, and sheep. An organic garden supplies greens and vegetables to the Great Lakes Brewing Company.

Hale Farm & Village is the perfect setting for group outings, "country" weddings, receptions, picnics, family reunions, clam bakes, and corporate retreats. Its Meeting House is now used as a quaint Wedding Chapel. Surrounded by the beautiful green space and historical homes of the Western Reserve, Hale’s incredible landscape is perfect for wedding pictures after your ceremony.
