Mather for special events.*
The Mather, which is permanently docked at North Coast Harbor
adjacent to the Science Center, is a nonsmoking vessel. Food

the rear dining rooms, or on the dock. Rental rates often
include tour guides and four hours of onboard time.
Available year round:

oak with brass appointments, the Officers' Dining
Room provides a unique view of Lake Erie and Voinovich
Park.
Guests' Dining Room (Capacity 8) -
The most elegant dining room on the Great Lakes harkens back
to the days when the Mather was the flagship for the Cleveland-Cliffs
fleet. Distinguished guests of the Company dined here, including
the ships' namesake, William G. Mather, himself!
Available May-September 15:
Cargo Hold #1 (Capacity 125 - Dining; 200 - Reception) -
During the William G. Mather's 55 years as a Great
Lakes freighter, Cargo Hold #1 held up to 3,000 tons of
iron ore or coal. This space has been transformed into
a majestic 4,000 square foot exhibit hall that is handicapped
accessible. Please note: The Mather Museum is not air-conditioned.
Spar Deck (Capacity 300) -
This open area gives a breathtaking view of the Cleveland
skyline, Burke Lakefront Airport, Lake Erie, and North
Coast Harbor. Cargo Hold #1 is included with this rental.

the vessel can be heated. In addition to being available
for evening events, the museum can be used for daytime events
Mondays through Thursdays during the months of May and September.
From November to April, the Officers' and Guests' Dining
Rooms are available for daytime and evening events.
